This evening the Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers took on the Michigan Monarchs in a double-header on their home field at Sports Force Parks. With a bit of rain coming in from the lake and the temperature dropping just a little bit, the players were in their powder blue uniforms and ready to take the field. Braden Shepherd started on the mound for the Haulers. Shepherd was eager to get back on the mound after playing the last few games in center field, “I felt very strong out there. I was forcing weak contact and missing barrels for the most part, even though some of it did not go my way. It was good to get out there and have a solid outing to finish off the summer.” He capped his speed at a steady 92 mph, and allowed for only two runs up until the top of the seventh inning, when Parker Newby came in for relief. The Ice Haulers rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning, starting off with Eli Snider hitting a ground rule double in the bottom of the sixth inning, allowing Ostrander who was sitting on third to make the first run of the game for the Haulers. Luke Walton stepped up to the plate and ripped a line drive to left field, allowing Seidel and Snider to make their way to home plate. Hudson Davenport hit a single that sent Walton to third and Rhett Stokes followed up with a double, and Luke Walton was able to steal home. The runs continued when J.T. Popick hit a ground ball to far left field, which allowed for Davenport and Stokes to score as well. The Ice Haulers went through the entire lineup in the bottom of the sixth, with only one out. The Ice Haulers had a ten run inning, giving them the win against the Monarchs for the first game of the night. The second game began with an out of the park home run by Ice Hauler, Luke Walton. Each inning was a quick three outs, with Cooper Fiehrer on the mound for the Ice Haulers. The second game was much closer than the first. With a 10-2 final in the first game and the second with a 4-2 final, both wins were taken by the Ice Haulers. The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers will be back in action tomorrow night, Monday the 24th, for the final home game of the season. The Haulers will face off against the Monarchs once again, with the first pitch to be thrown at 7:00 p.m.

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers were on field three this evening in a faceoff against the Royal Oak Leprechauns. A few of the Haulers, Ostrander, Shepherd, Snider, Schunk, Newby, Seidel, and Davenport are making their return after playing in the North vs. South All Star Game last night. The North Division beat the South Division with a final score of 3-1.
Ethan Mohr, a right-handed pitcher from Findlay, started on the mound for the Ice Haulers. Eli Snider hit his twelfth double of the season in the bottom of the second inning. Luke Walton was on fire out in right field, with four catches within the first two innings. Austin Adelman hit a double in the bottom of the second inning, allowing for two runs to be made by J.T. Popick and Sam Witt. J.T. Popick hit a line drive out to left field, which brought Eli Snider and Hudson Davenport to the plate for two more runs, making the score 4-0 with the Haulers in the lead. Ben Palomo took the mound in the top of the seventh inning, giving Mohr some relief. RJ Shunk threw one pitch in the top of the seventh inning to the catcher Austin Adelman behind the plate. Adelman threw down to first base to get a double play, one out at home and one out at first. One run was let up in the top of the seventh by the Leprechauns, but that did not stop the Haulers. The Haulers finished the game with a quick final inning, winning the game with a 4-1 final. The Ice Haulers will be back in action on July 23rd for a double header at Sports Force Parks against the Michigan Monarchs. The first pitch is to be thrown at 4 p.m. and the second game will follow. The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers were back in action at Sports Force Parks to play in a double header against the JetBox baseball team. The first game started at 5 p.m and the second followed at a scheduled 8 p.m. allowing for a little break for the players. With there being a double header, each game was only seven innings as opposed to the normal nine.
Cooper Fiehrer started on the mound for the Haulers and remained in the game until the sixth inning. Ben Keller stepped to the mound for relief in the top of the sixth. In the top of the third inning, Austin Adelman made a throw down to second base to receive the second out of the inning. Adelman repeated a throw down to second base in the top of the fifth after catching a strike that Fiehrer threw in. The score remained at a steady 0-0 up until the bottom of the sixth inning when JetBox scored three runs. The second game began a little earlier than its scheduled time, first pitch was thrown at 7:15 p.m. just as the clouds began to roll in over the lake. Braden Shepherd took the mound for the Haulers and new catcher from The University of Rochester stepped in for the Ice Haulers, Joe Siciliano. There were a few changes between the game lineups, but for the most part they stayed the same. Chyran Humphries followed up Sam Witt's designated hitter spot and Spencer Fortier took over second base for Rhett Stokes. Eli Snider hit a ground rule double in the bottom of the third inning. Luke Walton followed up with a sacrifice fly to first base, sending Snider to third base. JT Popick stepped into the plate and hit a line drive to right field, allowing Snider to score a run for the Ice Haulers. Connor Ostrander hit his third of the park homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning, proving the fact that he has the fourth highest batting percentage in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League with a .368. The Western Michigan player was happy to rack in another home run for his summer stats, “I was just trying to simply see the ball and hit with the bat. I got my pitch up and then just got a hold of it.” Ostrander will appear in the GLSCL All-Star game along with six other Ice Hauler players - Elijah Snider, DJ Newman, Sam Siedel, Hudson Davenport, Parker Newby, and RJ Shunk. The Ice Haulers took two back to back losses tonight, but they will be back tomorrow night to seek redemption against JetBox. The first pitch will be thrown at 7 p.m. on Field #3 at Sports Force Parks. The Ice Haulers were back in action tonight, taking the field against the Licking County Settlers for the second night in a row. There was a bit of a haze in the sky due to wildfire smoke from the north making its way over the lake. The players did not let the haze affect them, Perry Miller took the mound for the Haulers and pitching for the Settlers was Aidan Layton.
RJ Shunck stepped in to pitch for the Ice Haulers, making a return after being out for the past couple games. He took the mound at the bottom of the fourth inning Two runs were made by the Settlers, but they were soon halted as Shunck threw consistent strikes and allowed for the defense to get some action in the field. The game was tied by the bottom of the fourth, Hudson Davenport hit a ground ball to third base, sending Eli Snider into home. Sam Witt followed Davenport with a ground hit to third base, once again sending a runner into home. Cooper Fiehrer, the catcher for tonight’s game, had a throw down to Sam Seidel at second base to get the stealing runner out, ending the sixth inning. The game remained tied until the last out of the ninth inning, bases were loaded and Mikey Pollard was up to bat. Tensions were high and the players lined the fences as the last pitch of the game was thrown. The ball went past the catcher, allowing for Sam Witt to steal home and score the game winning run. The Haulers won against the Settlers with a final score of 3-2. The Ice Haulers will be back in action against the Southern Ohio Copperheads down in Athens, Ohio on June 30th. The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers were back in action on Field #3 at Sports Force Parks to face off against the Licking County Settlers. It was cloudy and breezy in Sandusky, but the Haulers did not let that stop them. Ethan Mohr started on the mound for the Ice Haulers and Cole Cahill started on the mound for the Settlers.
Rhett Stokes hit an RBI to left field in the bottom of the second inning. Sam Seidel was sitting on third, but the hit sent Seidel into home. Eli Snider moved to third base, but on a passed ball he stole home. Shortly after Stokes hit, Luke Walton hit a line drive to center field, sending another run in for the Haulers. Giving the Haulers a 3-0 lead. The bottom of the third inning had the Ice Haulers ready to battle. Eli Snider started off with a fly ball to deep right field, landing him on second base. Davenport stepped up to the plate and followed the prior’s lead with a fly ball to right field, sending Snider home. Luke Walton stepped into the batter's box and hit a ground rule double to right field. The Settlers had a pitching change in the bottom of the fourth, but that did not halt the Haulers. Braden Shepherd led off the inning with a groundball to second, but beat the first baseman to the base, he then proceeded to steal second. Four runs were scored, two from stolen bases and two driven in. Ben Keller took the mound in the top of the fifth inning, giving Mohr relief. Connor Ostrander hit an out of the park home run over right field, running up the score once again. During the bottom of the sixth inning the Haulers tallied two more runs, making this one of the highest scoring games of the season with 11 runs by the end of the sixth. The Haulers took the win over the Settlers 13-8, making this the ninth win of the season. The Ice Haulers will be back in action tomorrow night to face the Licking County Settlers for game two of their series. Behind the plate for the Ice Haulers was number thirty, Cooper Fieherer. In the top of the second inning Cooper threw out an attempted base stealer at third. Connor Ostrander recorded the third out of the inning on a ground ball. Parker Newby, a left-handed pitcher from The University of Toledo, took the mound during the top of the third inning. In the fourth inning Sam Seidel hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Austin Adelman to put the Haulers on the board. Cooper Fiehrer led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a home run to left field. Following Fiehrer’s home run, Seidel drove a double into right field. The Haulers nearly tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, with a deep fly ball by Eli Snider and Luke Walton. The Ice Haulers lost 6-5, but shut out the Leprechauns for the last 6 innings of the game. They will be back in action tomorrow night for another game against the Leprechauns. The Ice Haulers were back in action this evening for game three of the series against the Muskegon Clippers. It was a little windy tonight at Sports Force Parks, but the players braved through. The Muskegon Clippers took the win of the game with 7-4, and took the win over the series, 2-1. Seth Sleasman started on the mound for the Haulers, starting the game in nearly the same way it started last night.
In the top of the third inning Austin Adelman, the catcher for the game, threw down to second base, finalizing the inning and getting the third out. The Hauler’s defense was on point this evening, as seen in the fourth innng. Popick grouded a ball and made the throw to Davenport at first base for the second out and Mikey Pollard made a catch in left field to make the third out of the inning. Ben Keller stepped on the mound for the Haulers in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Sleasman releif. Shortstop JT Popick grounded a ball and threw it to Stokes at second, making one out, following that Stokes threw to first to get a second out. The double play got the Haulers out of a tight situation, with a runner on the base and only one out. Braden Shepherd stepped into right field tonight and made two catches and two outs in the top of the seventh inning. In the top of the eighth, Hudson Davenport caught a line drive at first base. Connor Ostradner, the third baseman, had the first base hit for the Haulers in the bottom of the eighth. Ostradner then stole home on a pass ball, putting the Haulers on the board. DJ Newman had a base hit single in the bottom of the ninth then Stokes stole third to attempt the advance to home. The bases were loaded in the bottom of the ninth with no outs, the Ice Haulers came together and ran in some last minute runs. The Ice Haulers will be back on the field tomorrow night at 7 p.m. to face off against the Royal Oak Leprechauns at Memorial Park Field in Royal Oak, Michigan. The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers faced the Muskegon Clippers for the second game of their three game series. Perry Miller started on the mound for the Haulers and Daniel Gutierrez started on the mound for the Clippers. Miller pitched three innings with back to back outs at the plate, not letting a runner get on the bag until the fourth inning. When asked about his pitching from the game, Perry said “I got a lot of first-pitch strikes and got ahead of batters. I got fatigued in the seventh inning, but I relied a lot on the defense. I know I can count on them.” Rhett Stokes, the shortstop for the game, hit a double in the fourth inning. The fifth inning was started and sealed by Rhett Stokes fielding ground balls and throwing them to Spencer Fortier at first base for all three outs. Fortier played first-base for the premier time this season, “It’s been awhile but it was good. I was glad to get back out there on the field.” The Haulers were up 1-0 until the top of the seventh inning until the Clippers had two consecutive outfield flies, sending three runners home. Those runs completed the scoring for the game, the Clippers winning RJ Shunk stepped up to the mound to give Miller relief in the eighth inning, allowing no runs in. The players of the Ice Haulers stuck together and rallied after an incident in the eighth inning. Braden Shepherd made the final out of the eighth inning by catching a fly ball in center field. The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers will be back again tomorrow night to play the Muskegon Clippers for game three of their series. The Ice Haulers faced the Muskegon Clippers this evening at Sports Force Parks for game one of their three game series. The Haulers have been on a seven game winning streak and they bumped that number up to eight this evening with a 7-0 final.
Cooper Fiehrer started on the mound for the Haulers tonight. Second baseman Rhett Stokes led the game by making the first two outs, a line drive catch and a ground ball at second thrown to third. Fiehrer made the third out, a ground to the mound then thrown to first. Chyran Humphries made the first out of the third inning, catching a fly ball out in right field with a runner on second. First baseman, Eli Snider, hit a line drive to right field in the bottom of the fourth inning. That hit sent number 20, Luke Walton, to home base to make the first run scored of the game. DJ Newman came home on a wild pitch following Walton, giving the Ice Haulers a 2-0 lead. In the top of the fifth inning Connor Ostrander took over third base and Davenport moved from third to first to give Snider relief for an injury that took place during the fifth inning. RJ Shunk, left-handed pitcher, came in for Fiehrer on the mound at the top of the sixth inning, striking the first two batters. The third out was made by JT Popick, the shortstop, with the catch of an infield fly. Popick caught another infield fly in the bottom of the seventh then proceeded to throw it to first base, making a double play to get the runner on the bag out. When asked about those plays, Popick said, “I felt very good about the plays. They came quickly, but they were good.” The team rallied together for yet another Ice Hauler win. The Ice Haulers will face the Clippers again tomorrow night at Sports Force Parks at 7:00 p.m. The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers were back in action this evening to face off against the Southern Ohio Copperheads for game two of their home series. The Haulers won against the Copperheads the night before, 14-6, and were ready to face them on the field once again.
The first inning was led off by right handed pitcher Ethan Mohr. Mohr struckout three of the four batters for the Copperheads, only allowing one hit to land in left field. During the second inning second baseman, Spencer Fortier, grounded out a hit ball to first baseman Eli Snider achieving the first out of the inning. Fortier also assisted the second out of the inning, catching a pop fly to second base. Catcher, Austin Adelman, made a throw down to JT Popick at shortstop to make a tag out at second base. With two runners on base, Chyran Humphries made the third out of the third inning by making a catch out in right field to keep the score at a 0-0 standstill. Connor Ostrader hit a hard ground ball to center field in the bottom of the fourth inning, allowing Austin Adelman to score the first run of the game. The Copperheads ran in two runs during the sixth inning, giving them the lead. The Haulers were led off by a hit from Snider, getting a runner on first base. Adelman followed the lead and JT Popick moved both players up on the bases with a sacrifice bunt. Ostrander hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Snider to make a game tying run. In the top of the seventh inning, Braden Shepherd stepped up to the mound to give Mohr relief during the seventh inning. DJ Newman hit an RBI in the bottom of the seventh, sending Spencer Fortier home. Snider then stepped up to the plate and sent a ball out to right field, sending Chyran Humphries in to run the score up 4-2. Designated hitter for the night's game, Luke Walton, hit a line drive to left field and sent Ostrander and Pollard in to home. Those runs made the score 6-2, with the Haulers for a four run lead. Closing out the night Shepherd finished with three strikeouts in the top of the 9th inning.
