Sandusky Bay Sweeps the Two Game Series against the Licking County Settlers

After competing in a split series from July fourteenth and fifteenth, the Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers rallied to complete a 2-0 home series win against the Settlers.
.
Game One resulted in a 7-5 win in favor of the Bay. Earning the start on the mound for game one was Gage Gillott who pitched for five innings. Gillott, a right-handed pitcher from USC Upstate, struggled in the beginning few innings, walking six batters, but was able to regain confidence to earn the win on the mound for the Bay. Gillott finished with four hits, five runs, and seven strikeouts.

Some more key highlights from game one include Jacob Armsey going three for four at the plate and recording his fifth stolen base. Nathan Archer and Brady Renfro also went two for four at the plate. The Ice Haulers also recorded six RBI’s with two of them coming from Nathan Archer.
.
Leading the series 1-0, the Ice Haulers rallied to take game two as well. Game two resulted in a 6-1 win and four RBI’s were credited to Mason Montgomery. Sandusky Bay took the 4-0 lead in the second inning due to Montgomery’s Grand Slam that brought in Nathan Archer and Andrew Horvath who were both on base due to being hit by a pitch. Montgomery also batted in Mikey Pollard who got on base from a six-pitch walk.

Sandusky Bay brought in their fifth runner in the third inning from some Nathan Archer base running. Archer advanced to first from a dropped third pitch and stole all around the bases during Andrew Horvath and Eli Snider’s at-bats. Archer completed the “home run” base running to close out the inning. Archer now sits at twenty-five stolen bases on the season.

Eli Snider, a Sophomore from Seton Hill University, tallied an RBI in the eighth inning with his double to center field bringing in Archer for another insurance run pushing the lead to 6-1.
.
Alexei Goldhill earned the start on the mound for game two. Goldhill, a right-handed pitcher from Oakland University, went on to pick up the win for the Bay tallying six hits, one run, and three strikeouts in eight innings pitched. Goldhill also pitches in the Back Bay Prospect League for the Chausse Cattails. Alec Mendoza, right-handed pitcher and Senior from Notre Dame College of Ohio, came in to pitch relief in the ninth to close out the game. Mendoza finished the game off with a walk and single strikeout facing only four batters.

Key highlights for the game two match-up with the Licking County Settlers for game two include Josh Kross going two for four at the plate. Sandusky Bay was also walked four times in the game and Nathan Archer tallied three stolen bases. Finally, Mason Montgomery took over in the second inning with his grand slam.

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers will be off tomorrow (Thursday July 21), but will resume play with a doubleheader on Friday July 22 against the Southern Ohio Copperheads. First pitch for game one will begin at 5 PM and will take place at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, Ohio. The address for the Away Ballpark is shown below. The Ice Haulers now improve to seventeen wins on the season.

Sandusky Bay drops Game one with the Southern Ohio Copperheads

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers dropped game one against the Southern Ohio Copperheads, 9-12. The Copperheads are in last place in the South Division and this loss has now dropped the Bay to fourth overall in the North Division.
.
The Ice Haulers trailed 0-3 after the first inning, giving Francisco Olivarez the loss on the mound for the Bay. K. Ratliff got things started and rallied with two outs in the first by hitting a homerun to left field. Olivarez then walked the next two batters to put the Copperheads in scoring position. M. Stallings then doubled to left field after both J. Steidl and M. Nadolney stole due to a wild pitch. Steidl and Nadolney then advanced home to give M. Stallings to RBI’s.
.
Sandusky Bay came alive in the second inning to try to even the score, but fell short by only cutting the deficit to one. Jace Rinehart and Eli Snider hit back-to-back homeruns off the Copperheads pitcher, M. Gilkey. Mason Montogmery tried to go for three in a row, but was still able to advance to first from a single to the shortstop that slipped under his glove. Montgomery later was caught stealing for the first time this season and Michael Pollard was put out at short for the three outs of the inning.

The Copperheads answered quickly in the third advancing two more runs home off three hits. Francisco Olivarez only pitched through this inning and finished recording five hits, five runs, three walked batters, and two strikeouts.
.
The Ice Haulers tried to come back in the fourth inning, recording two more runs from an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly, but it was not enough. Mason Montgomery tripled to right field to advance Eli Snider home. Mikey Pollard then hit a sacrifice fly to right field for Montgomery to advance home. Sandusky Bay was able to put up one run in the seventh, three runs in the eight, and one run in the ninth, but the Copperheads were able to outswing and outrun the Haulers for the win.

Cooper Donlin, Brady Renfro, Ty Munroe, and Bobby Perebzak all came in to pitch relief for the Ice Haulers. Donlin tallied four hits, two runs, and two walked batters in his two innings pitched. Brady Renfro and Ty Munroe both tallied a single strikeout in their single innings pitched. Finally, Bobby Perebzak recorded two strikeouts, two hits, and one run to finish off the game.

Sandusky Bay now drops to fifteen wins and eighteen losses. They will be back in action tonight at 7:05PM to play the Licking County Settlers at Sandusky Sports Force Parks on Field 3.

SBIH splits the series with the Licking County Settlers

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers split their series with the South Division’s first place team, the Licking County Settlers. The Ice Haulers took game one in a seven inning fashion with an 11-1 finish. The Ice Haulers then dropped game two with a final score of 3-7 in Granville, Ohio at Denison University’s field. 
.
The Ice Haulers are meant to make-up game three due to a rain cancellation from their Sunday July 17th match-up. That game will be decided at a later date. 
.
Game one of the series, the Ice Haulers took an early 3-1 lead in the first inning. Garett Pike advanced to first on a single and was then able to steal second during Jace Rinehart’s at-bat. Rinehart then doubled to center field to advance Pike home for one run. Rinehart was also able to score during Nathan Archer’s at-bat due to a wild-pitch and a catcher’s error. Archer went on to advance to first and steal second. Archer was the final Ice Hauler to advance home in this inning from a Mason Montgomery single to center field.

Key Highlights from the game one match-up include Mason Montgomery and Jacob Armsey going two for four at the plate. Eli Snider and Jace Rinehart also went one for three at the plate. Sandusky Bay recorded ten hits, eleven runs, and ten RBI’s for game one. Gage Gillott, right-handed pitcher from USC Upstate, pitched for six innings and tallied four hits, one run, and one strikeout. Gillott went on to be the winning pitcher for the game. Coming in to pitch relief in the seventh inning was Owen Kovacs. Kovacs tallied one hit in his one inning pitched.

Key Highlights for game two of the series include Ty Stolarski going two for three at the plate along with Alec Mendoza and Andrew Horvath going two for four. The Ice haulers were able to record three runs, eight hits, and three RBI’s for game two. Cameron Darrington, right-handed pitcher from Owens Community College, earned the start on the mound for the Ice Haulers. Darrington pitched for 2.2 innings and recorded five hits, five runs, and one strikeout. Jacob Boyd along with Orlando Loyed came in to pitch relief for the Bay. Boyd, a left-handed pitcher from Lourdes University, pitched for 3.1 innings and tallied four hits and only one run. Lloyd, a right-handed pitcher from Terra State Community College, pitched for two innings and recorded one hit, one run, and two strikeouts.

The Ice Haulers will be back in action Monday Night to take on the Southern Ohio Copperheads. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM and will be at the Sandusky Sports Park on field 3. The Copperheads are in last place in the South Division with thirteen wins and nineteen losses. Currently, Sandusky Bay sits at fourth place in the North Division with fifteen wins and seventeen losses.

Sandusky Bay swept in Monarch Series

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers dropped games two and three against the Michigan Monarchs with final scores of 4-5 and . Sandusky Bay hosted Game two and three of the series and were on the road at Siena Heights University in Highland, Michigan for game one. The swept series dropped the Ice Haulers from their third place tie to a stagnant fourth place in the North Division. 
.
The Ice Haulers had a 4-0 lead in game two of the series, but crumbled in the eighth and ninth innings. The lead started for the Ice Haulers in the second inning with Josh Kross advancing to first. Kross went on to steal second during Andrew Horvath’s at-bat which also landed him on base. Kross went on to steal third and home as well due to some wild pitching from the Monarchs K. Ballard. This started the scoring for Sandusky Bay.
.
Sandusky Bay continued their scoring in the third inning as well. Nathan Archer doubled on the third pitch shown and advanced to third base during Garett Pike’s at-bat, where he was put-out at first. Archer scored on a wild pitch during Josh Kross’s at-bat, and Kross also hit a solo homerun to right field to extend the lead to 3-0. Brady Renfro finished up the scoring for the Ice Haulers in the sixth inning due to some infield errors on the Monarchs as well as having two walked batters (Snider & Renfro).

Earning the start on the mound for the Ice Haulers for game two was Alexei Goldhill, right-handed pitcher from Oakland University. Goldhill threw for five innings and recorded two walked batters, four hits, and zero runs. After his reign on the mound the score line stood at 3-0.
.
Trouble struck in the eighth and ninth innings for Sandusky Bay. Some pitching changes came and went for the Bay bringing in Owen Kovacs, Cooper Donlin, and Tyler Munroe. Owen Kovacs pitched for two innings and recorded two hits, no runs, and three strikeouts. Cooper Donlin tallied three hits, three runs, and one walked batter in his single inning pitched. Finally, Tyler Munroe came in for relief in the ninth where the Monarchs walked-off with a win. Munroe tallied three hits and two runs to pick up the loss on the mound.

Game three did not end any differently for the Bay. The Monarchs led in the first inning due to a C. Coleman single which advanced home T. Nelson for a 1-0 lead. The Monarchs continued to score in the sixth and ninth innings. The sixth inning they scored one run and in the ninth inning they scored three to put a stamp on the series. The Ice Haulers sole run came from Josh Kross in the sixth inning. Kross was walked to first and stole second to get into scoring position. Eli Snider then doubled to center field which recorded an RBI for him and a run for the Ice Haulers, advancing home Kross. Final score for game three read as a 1-7 loss for the Bay.

The Ice Haulers will feature seven active players and two alternates in the North and South Division GLSCL All-Star Game on Tuesday July 12th. These nine players include Nathan Archer, Jacob Armsey, Jacob Boyd, Owen Kovacs, Josh Kross, Casey Maniglia, Garett Pike, Jace Rinehart and Ty Stolarski. Archer will be starting at center field, Kross will start as the catcher, Pike will start at right field, and Boyd will start as the pitcher for the North Division Team.

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers will not return to play until Thursday July 14th. Sandusky Bay will travel to Denison University in Granville, Ohio for interdivision play against the South Division’s first place team, the Licking County Settlers. The Settlers sit at nineteen wins and two losses while Sandusky Bay sits at fourteen wins and sixteen losses.

Sandusky Bay falls short of a Rally against the Monarchs

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers fell in game one of the series against the Michigan Monarchs, 6-8. The Ice Haulers now sit at fourteen wins and fourteen losses. The Bay is continuing their strides for the playoffs, but also have seven players participating in the All-Star Game. 
.
Starting on the mound for the Ice Haulers was Alec Mendoza, right-handed pitcher from Notre Dame College of Ohio. Mendoza pitched for three innings and recorded eight hits, six runs, and one strikeout. Coming in to pitch relief for the Bay was Orlando Loyed and Bobby Perebzak. Lloyd, right-handed pitcher from Terra State CC, pitched for three innings and tallied two hits, one run, and two strikeouts. Perebzak closed out the game pitching for two innings and tallying two hits, one run, and four strikeouts. Three of Perebzak’s strikeouts all came in the eighth inning.

The Monarch lead began in the second inning. S. Gergely came out strong for the Monarchs with a single to center field. Up to bat next for the Monarchs was C. Coleman tripled to right field and advanced Gergely home. H. Brown advanced Coleman home by a putout from shortstop to first. The Monarch lead lasted the entire game.
.
The Ice Haulers tried to rally in the seventh inning stretch, finally finding a sweet spot in the barrels of their bats. Garett Pike, Josh Kross, and Jace Rinehart all advanced on base to get into scoring position. Pike advanced home along with Kross bringing the score within three runs. Jake Armsey later advanced home to bring the scoreline to 5-7.

Key highlights from the match-up include the at bats for the Ice Haulers. Jake Armsey went three for four at the plate and Garett Pike went three for five. Nathan Archer, Josh Kross, and Brady Renfro all recorded one RBI and Jace Rinehart recorded two.

Ice Haulers drop the series to the Leprechauns

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers dropped their final series against the Leprechauns with a final score of 1-4 in Game Three. Sandusky Bay swept the Leprechauns during their first match-up back in June, but dropped the July series two games to one. 
.
Gage Gillott, right-handed pitcher from USC Upstate, earned the start on the mound for the Bay. Gillott pitched for five innings and picked-up four strikeouts, two runs, and five hits. Owen (Sir) Kovacs, right-handed pitcher from East Tennessee State, threw for two relief innings and recorded three strikeouts. Samuel Thombs, right-handed pitcher from Defiance College, closed out the game with two innings pitched, two strikeouts, five hits, and two runs. 
.
The Leprechauns took an early lead in the first from a G. Ganun sacrifice fly advancing C. Franken home for the 1-0 lead. The Ice Haulers had no answer for the Leprechauns in the second inning as well with another run advancing home and extending the lead to 2-0. Sandusky Bay tried to rally in the third inning from Jake Armsey’s single to right field, bringing Alec Mendoza home to trail by one run. R. Trahey and D. Henig put their mark on the game for the Leprechauns in the eight inning bringing in two more runs to finish the game with a 4-1 scoreline.

Sandusky Bay will be on the road for tonight’s match-up against the first place team in the league, the Michigan Monarchs. The Ice Haulers will travel to Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan for game one of their three game series. Games two and three will be played at the Sandusky Force Sports Park Field 3. First pitch for tonight is set for 7:05 PM at the SHU baseball diamond.

Sandusky Bay Drops Game Two of the Series

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers lost game two of their three game series with the Royal Oak Leprechauns in a 10-inning walk-off fashion, 2-3. The Ice Haulers trailed in the second inning 2-0, until they put two runs on the board in the fourth inning. This loss now sits Sandusky Bay at fourteen wins, twelve losses, and third place overall in the North Division. 
.
E. Hopkins and D. Henig advanced home for the Leprechauns in the second inning due to a R. Trahey putout and an error by the Ice Hauler second baseman. Royal Oak recorded one hit, two runs, and an unearned base due to an error in the field. 
.
With a close game, the Ice Haulers rallied to tie things up in the fourth inning. Jacob Armsey advanced with a line drive single to left field and Garett Pike advanced on base to a line drive single to right field. With two runners on base, Josh Kross came up to bat and was hit by a pitch advancing all runners and loading the bases. Brady Renfro hit a single to center field to advance home both Jacob Armsey and Garett Pike, giving Renfro a two-run RBI. Renfro was later caught stealing for out number three of the inning. 
.
Extra innings at play, the Ice Haulers and Leprechauns went into 10 innings to decide a winner. G. Ganun hit a ground-rule double to center field to put himself into scoring position for the Leprechauns. Z. Horky then hit a single to center field which advanced G. Ganun home for the win.
.
Cam Darrington, right-handed pitcher from Owens Community College, earned the start on the mound for the Ice Haulers, pitching four innings. Darrington recorded five strikeouts, two runs, and two hits in his tenure on the mound. Jacob Boyd, left-handed pitcher from Lourdes University, pitched for six innings in relief. Boyd tallied four strikeouts, one run, and three hits in his time on the mound.

Sandusky Bay will be back in action tonight to conclude their three game series with the Royal Oak Leprechauns. With the series split one win to each side, the Ice Haulers have some work to do. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM and will take place at the Sandusky Sports Force Park on field 3.

Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers Swung for the Fences

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers are back in the winning column with the slugfest against the Royal Oak Leprechauns, 10-1. This win now puts the Ice Haulers at fourteen wins and eleven losses on the season.
.
Francisco Olivarez, right-handed pitcher from Tiffin University, earned the start on the mound for the Ice Haulers. Olivarez tallied five strikeouts, one run, and seven hits in his six innings pitched. He went on to pick up the win for Sandusky Bay.
.
Scoring started early for the Ice Haulers in the bottom of the first inning. Garett Pike, Sophomore at the University of Toledo, hit a two run homerun to right field bringing in Jacob Armsey and himself. Sandusky Bay recorded two hits and two runs in this inning giving them the 2-0 lead going into the second.
.
The Ice Haulers tallied another run in the second inning due to a Ty Stolarski RBI. Stolarski brought in Andrew Horvath who hit a double and stole third to get himself into scoring position. Garett Pike once again hit a homerun in the third inning scoring another run, along with Jace Rinehart’s two-run homerun advancing both Josh Kross and himself home.  The Ice Haulers extended their lead to 6 after the third. The Leprechauns got on the board in the third inning, but this would be the only run scored for the game. 
.
Andrew Horvath, Sophomore at the University of Akron, scored again in the sixth inning from a Ty Stolarski RBI. Josh Kross swung for the fences in the seventh to bring in Nathan Archer, Garett Pike, and himself on a three-run homerun to conclude Ice Hauler scoring. This homerun extended the lead to 10.

Orlando Loyed and Bobby Perebzak both came in to pitch relief. Lloyd, a right-handed pitcher from Terra State Community College, tallied one strikeout, no hits, and no runs in his two innings pitched. Perebzak recorded one strikeout and one walked batter in his one inning pitched to close out the game.
.
Key highlights of the match-up include Andrew Horvath’s two doubles, Garett Pike’s two home runs, Josh Kross’s homerun, Jace Rinehart’s home run, three RBI’s for Pike, three RBI’s for Kross, two RBI’s for Rinehart, and two RBI’s for Stolarski. Nathan Archer also earned his eighteenth stolen base of the GLSCL 2022 season and Horvath earned his second. Garett Pike went three for three at the plate and Andrew Horvath went two for three.

Sandusky Bay will be back in action tonight with game two of the three game series against the Royal Oak Leprechauns. First Pitch is set for 7:05 PM with an Ice Hauler lead on the series 1-0. Josh Kross leads the GLSCL North Division with five home runs thus far.

Sandusky Bay drops the series to Muskegon on the Road

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers drop the series to the Muskegon Clippers two games to one. Final score of last night’s match-up was in favor of the Clippers 13-3. The game lasted seven innings due to the run rule.
.
With last night’s loss, Sandusky Bay dropped from first place in GLSCL play to third place behind the Michigan Monarchs & JetBox Baseball Club. Sandusky Bay will look to reconvene after the holiday with a stretch of home games against the Royal Oak Leprechauns.
.
The Clippers took the lead in the second inning due to an AJ Miranda and N. Phillips doubles that advanced runners home along with T. Nielsen advancing to first on an error from the third baseman. The two hits and two runs on the inning gave the Clippers the lead and they continued to lead for the remainder of the game. 
.
Sandusky Bay opened up their scoring in the fourth inning. Josh Kross, third basemen, hit a double to right field and advanced home from a Mason Montgomery single. Montgomery picked up the RBI for the run. 
.
Mason Montgomery tried to rally for a comeback in the seventh inning stretch with a single to begin the inning. Jacob Armsey, shortstop, hit a two-run homerun to bring in Adam Brauch and conclude the scoring for the Ice Haulers.
.
Key Highlights from Sunday’s match-up include Mason Montgomery going two for three at the plate with two singles and Adam Brauch going two for two at the plate. Jacob Armsey tallied two RBI’s and Mason Montgomery tallied one. Kross, Armsey, and Brauch all advanced home for the Ice Haulers for their three runs.

The Ice Haulers will be back in action tonight taking on the Royal Oak Leprechauns in a three game home series. Last time these two teams faced one another, Sandusky Bay earned their first and only sweep. Tonight’s game will start at 7:05 PM at Sandusky Sports Force Parks Field #3.

Sandusky Bay Splits the Series with Muskegon 1-1

The Ice Haulers lost game two of the series against the Muskegon Clippers last night, 1-6. The Ice Haulers now sit at thirteen wins and ten losses on the season. Sandusky Bay recorded four hits and one run in the evening. 
.
Scoring started early, but not for the Ice Haulers. Muskegon jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a J. Anderson homerun on the fifth pitch of Ice Haulers, Alec Mendoza.  The Ice Haulers tried to answer back in the second inning with an Andrew Horvath single to left field and Mason Montgomery advancing to base on an error, but both Michael Pollard and Adam Brauch struck out swinging for outs two and three on the inning. 
.
Muskegon did not slow down and recorded three more hits and two runs in the bottom of the second inning to extend their lead to three. Leading off the third, Nathan Archer was put out at shortstop, but Jacob Armsey doubled to left field to advance to second. Josh Kross then lined out to first base for out two and out three was given to Jace Rinehart who grounded out to the pitcher. AJ Miranda of Muskegon hit a two-run homerun to close out the third inning with a demanding 5-0 lead. Sandusky Bay did not advance home until the sixth inning for their one run in the evening.
.
Alec Mendoza, right-handed pitcher and Redshirt Senior at Notre Dame College of Ohio, earned the start on the mound for the Ice Haulers. Mendoza pitched for seven innings and averaged almost a strikeout per inning sitting at six strikeouts, ten hits, and six runs during his time on the mound. Ty Munroe, right-handed pitcher and Sophomore at Terra State Community College, came in to pitch relief and close out the game. Munroe tallied no hits and no runs in his one inning pitched for Sandusky Bay.

The Ice Haulers will be back in action tonight to close out game three of their three game series with the Muskegon Clippers. First Pitch is set for 5 PM today at Marsh Field in Muskegon, Michigan.
