It was a win or go home situation between the Locos and Ice Haulers, as they battled one more time to close out the series. Gino Sabatine (Senior, Marietta College) took the mound for Sandusky Bay, hoping to clinch the team a spot in the championship series.

The Locos wasted no time, as they would strike with a three-run homerun in the first inning, as they took an early 3-0 lead. They would strike for two more runs in the fourth inning off an RBI double.

Trailing 5-0, the Ice Haulers closed the gap, scoring three runs in the fifth inning. Bryce Richey (Junior, Tiffin University) would hit a groundball to the Loco pitcher. The pitcher would make an error throw to allow Braden Durham (Freshman, Seton Hill) to score. Then, Drew Holderbach (Senior, Marietta College) would hit a groundball to third. The third baseman would make an error throw to first base, allowing Zachary Campbell (Senior, Tiffin University), and Nick Mueller (Freshman, Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi) to score.

Leading 5-3, the Locos got one more run in the sixth inning off a sacrifice fly. The Locos lead was now back to three, heading into the seventh inning.

The Ice Haulers would fight to get two runs in the seventh inning, as Drew Holderbach and Mark Connelly (Sophomore, Lansing Community College) each had an RBI single. The Ice Haulers now trailed by just one run, with a score of 6-5.

The Locos would get two more insurance runs in the ninth inning to seal the deal. The Locos would end Sandusky Bay’s season, with a score of 8-5. The Ice Haulers have now finished their first season as a franchise. They finished the regular season with 28 wins, and 14 losses. They also finished the regular season as North Division Champions. They will look to keep the tradition alive next season.
