The Ice Haulers knew coming into this game, they had the chance to be the first Sandusky baseball club to ever win 14 straight games. Jeremy Grayley (Junior, West Virginia State University) took the mound for Sandusky Bay, as they took on the Galion Graders.

The Ice Haulers drew first blood in the first inning. Mark Connelly (Sophomore, Lansing Community College) hit a ball to a Grader first baseman. The first baseman would not be able to come up with the ball, causing a costly error for the Graders. This error allowed Zachary Campbell (Senior, Tiffin University) and Scott Mackiewicz (Freshman, University of Toledo) to score, making it a 2-0 lead for Sandusky.

As the Graders got a run back in the second inning, the Haulers scored three more runs in the third inning. Tyler Byrd (Freshman, Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi) would hit an RBI single, as other runs would come into score from another Grader error, and an RBI fielder’s choice hit by Braden Durham (Sophomore, University of South Carolina Upstate). After three innings, the Ice Haulers led 5-1.

The Ice Haulers struck for two more runs in the fourth inning. The first run came from an RBI groundout, hit by Scott Mackiewicz. The groundball would drive in Zachary Campbell to score. The next run would come off another costly error from the Graders. This gave Sandusky Bay a 7-1 lead.

The Ice Haulers would have a bullpen day, as they used seven total pitchers to give the starters a rest. The pitchers would only allow the Graders to score once, as they led Sandusky to a 7-1 win. This win has given the Ice Haulers a record setting winning streak (14 games). The last Sandusky baseball club to hold the record with 13 straight wins was over a decade ago. Now, the record belongs to the Ice Haulers.

The Ice Haulers will be back in action on Tuesday. They will continue their road trip, as they take on the Royal Oak Leprechauns. First pitch will begin at 7:00pm.
