Ice Haulers hold on with a win against the Clippers in Game Two of the Series

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers defeated the Muskegon Clippers by a score of 7-6 Wednesday night. The Muskegon Clippers took an early lead in the first inning with triples from Stoney Smith and Jacob Anderson. Trent Nelson provided a sacrifice fly to close out the inning with a 2-0 lead.

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers answered back quickly with Jacob Armsey’s single batting in Eli Snider. Cameron Darrington of the Ice Haulers struck out Stoney Smith of the Clippers in the top of the third and allowed Mason Montgomery and Eli Snider to defensively shut down the Clippers to close out the inning. 

Garett Pike came in swinging hot doubling to get in scoring position for the Ice Haulers. Eli Snider also got into scoring position and Kross’s single batted in Pike to tie the game up. 

The Muskegon Clippers answered back to take the lead again in fourth with Logan Todd and Cooper Mills both singling to get on base. Josh Kross defensively threw out Stoney Smith to end the inning. 

The Ice Haulers entered the fourth inning swinging hot to level out the score once more. Nathan Archer started the inning off with a double and Eli Snider’s single brought in another run. The Ice Haulers took the lead in the sixth and held on until the seventh. Spencer Nelson of the Muskegon Clippers had a single home-run to tie things up, but the Ice Haulers rallied to secure the win in the eighth. Josh Kross’s ground rule double brought in Garret Pike to close-out the win for the Ice Haulers. 

Pitcher, Cameron Darrington, earned the start for the Ice Haulers on the mound and tallied two strikeouts in his four innings pitched. Jacob Boyd tallied one strikeout in his three innings pitched and Owen Kovacs threw for the save in the eight and ninth innings. Kovacs threw three strikeouts in his two innings pitched to end the game. 

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers will be back in action tomorrow to close out their Three Game series with the Muskegon Clippers. The Ice Haulers will look to secure the sweep with the first pitch beginning at 5 PM.
