The Ice Haulers were looking to continue to be a dangerous team tonight in the North Division, as they took on the Lima Locos. This would be their fourth meeting of the season, as the Ice Haulers lead the series 2-1. On the mound for the Ice Haulers tonight, was Brandon Bergert (Sophomore, Seton Hill).

Like past game, the Ice Haulers would be the first ones to trail in the ballgame. In the top of the second inning, Brandon Bergert gave up two unearned runs for the Lima Locos, after a groundball error by the Hauler third-baseman, Mark Connelly (Sophomore, Lansing Community College).

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the second, the Ice Haulers answered right back, scoring three runs. After hitting into a double play, the next three batters for the Ice Haulers would reach on base with a walk. The clutch hitting short-stop, Jordan Andrade (University of Nevada Las Vegas) would then hit a two RBI single to tie the game. Then the Tiffin Dragon, Zach Campbell (Senior, Tiffin University) would drive in the third run for the Ice Haulers, giving them a 3-2 lead.

After a shutout inning for Bergert in the third inning, the Ice Haulers would gain an insurance run. Scott Mackiewicz (Freshman, University of Toledo) would hit a solo shot to right field, giving the Ice Haulers a 4-2 lead. “It’s always nice to get a barrel on one. Soon as I watched it fly, I knew it was gone. I am happy that we all are seeing the ball well,” Mackiewicz said. Mackiewicz now has four home runs of the season.

After the Ice Haulers lead 4-2, the Locos would answer back scoring five unanswered runs. This gave the Locos a 7-4 lead. However, with the Ice Haulers being in this situation many times throughout the season, they were not done yet.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Ice Haulers would rally in seven runs. After the Ice Haulers scored three unanswered runs in the inning, four more of the team’s runs came off a big swing. The big hitter, Drew Holderbach (Senior, Marietta College) came up with the first grand slam hit at Sports Force Parks, which would give the Ice Haulers an 11-7 lead. “Getting player of the week, and now the first grand slam at Field 3 is an honor. This has been a fun Summer, and I am proud of our team,” Holderbach said. Drew Holderbach also now has four home runs of the season.

The Ice Haulers would hold down the Locos to a close 11-10 victory. The Ice Haulers now lead the series, 3-1. Owen Kovacs would obtain his first win of the season. Grayson Thurman would achieve his fifth save.

The Ice Haulers have now won 13 out of their last 14 games. The Ice Haulers now trail just one game back in the North, after the Jet Box Baseball Club would be swept by the Royal Oak Leprechauns in a double-header. The Ice Haulers will face the well-contested Leprechauns tomorrow night, at 7:00pm in Sandusky, Ohio.
