The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers get into the win column with tonight’s take down of Jet Box 11-2. The Ice Haulers hit and fielded well to keep Jet Box to only scoring in the first and third innings. Jet Box went on to finish with only five hits and 2 runs.
Jet Box’s Cole Daniels struggled in the first inning hitting 3 of the Ice Haulers to land them in scoring positions. Dom Magliocca, Sophomore at Miami University Hamilton, slapped home a double bringing in Mason Montgomery and Brady Renfro to show a scoreline of 5-1 to finish the inning.
The Haulers were held to five runs until the bottom of the fifth inning where Magliocca brought in Andrew Horvath with a single. From there, the Ice Haulers went on to score four more runs and run away with the game in the seventh inning stretch.
Nathan Archer, Sophomore at Bowling Green State University, held down the field defensively for the Ice Haulers. Archer went four for five at the plate and added three stolen bases along with a 2-run RBI in the seventh inning to secure the win.
Francisco (Frankie) Olivarez, a Senior at Tiffin University, earned the start for the Haulers and tallied 5 strikeouts on the mound. He went on to pick-up the win for Sandusky Bay.
The Ice Haulers will be back in action tomorrow night for Game 2 of their series with JetBox. First-Pitch will be at 7:05PM.
