The Ice Haulers came into today’s game looking for eight consecutive wins, as they took on the North division leaders, the Jet Box Baseball Club. Dino Vecchiolla (Freshman, Seton Hill University) would take the mound for his second matchup this season with Jet Box.

The Ice Haulers came out swinging early, as Drew Holderbach (Junior, Marietta College) would hit a three-run bomb in the top of the third inning. This would extend their lead to 4-0, after a run scored by the Ice Hauler’s leadoff hitter, Zach Campbell (Senior, Tiffin University) in the first inning. However, Jet Box would not go down without a fight as they would score six runs off Vecchiolla in the bottom of the third inning.

As Jet Box lead 7-4 in the top of the fifth inning, the young incoming college freshman, Dominic Magliocca (Freshman, Miami University) would hit a solo shot to close the gap, to a 7-5 score. Then, the Ice Haulers would tie the game in the top of the sixth, as Scott Mackiewicz (Freshman, University of Toledo) would hit a ground ball to short-stop. The Jet Box short-stop could not come up with the ball, causing a costly error to give up two runs for the Ice Haulers, as they would tie the game.

After a back-and-forth contest between the two teams, the game would end in the bottom of the ninth inning, as the Jet Box Baseball Club hit a walk-off RBI double to win. The Ice Haulers would suffer a tough loss, with a final score of 8-7.

The Ice Haulers will look to get back on track, after snapping their current seven-game winning streak. They will head back to Sports Force Parks (Sandusky, Ohio) tomorrow, where they will take on the Lima Locos at 7:00pm.
