After an hour rain delay before the original start time, Landon Smiddy (Sophomore, East Tennessee State University) looked to stay hot, as the Ice Haulers were striving for 15 straight wins. The team traveled to Royal Oak to take on the Leprechauns.

The Leprechauns struck first in the bottom of the first, however the Ice Haulers would answer in the second. Trailing 1-0, the first baseman, Nolan O’Connell (Sophomore, University of Findlay) put the Ice Haulers on the board with an RBI double, which would tie the game. The Ice Haulers would gain another run in the inning, as Zachary Campbell (Senior, Tiffin University) would walk with the bases loaded, scoring O’Connell.

In the bottom of the second, the Leprechauns would stun the ace pitcher, Landon Smiddy. The Leprechauns would score six unanswered runs, making it a 7-2 lead for the Leprechauns.

The Ice Haulers have trailed in many games this season, so this situation was familiar to them. In the top of the fourth inning, Mark Connelly (Sophomore, Lansing Community College) would come up with a big hit, hitting a 2-RBI double. This would cut the lead to 7-4, in favor of the Leprechauns.

In the top of the fourth, Jackson Green (Freshman, East Tennessee State University) would hit an RBI 4-3 putout. Afterwards, Jordan Andrade (Freshman, University of Nevada Las Vegas) would hit a sacrifice fly. These two runs would cut the Leprechaun lead to just one run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the game was called for another 30-minute delay due to lighting in the area. Unfortunately for the Ice Haulers, after those 30 minutes, the game would be called as a five-inning complete game, according from the NCAA rules. The Ice Haulers would not have any more chances to come back, as they fell to the Leprechauns 7-6.

The Ice Haulers have now snapped their 14-game winning streak but will be back in Sandusky to take on the Lima Locos at 7:00pm.
