The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers reigned victorious after a nine inning regulation finish against the Muskegon Clippers with a final score of 9-3. The game was uneventful until the top of the third inning where the Clippers took the lead with Spencer Nelson’s home run bringing in Colin Cornwell and Fernin Osio.

The Clippers 3-0 lead did not last long as the Ice Haulers came in swinging hot. Eli Snider, Junior at Seton Hill University, got on base early with a single that rallied the Ice Haulers to bat through their entire line-up. Brady Renfro, Sophomore at Valparaiso University, swung at a 2-1 count to double, bringing in Snider for the first RBI of the inning. Dom Magliocca and Jacob Armsey both walked to load the bases for Alec Mendoza. Mendoza, Junior at Notre Dame College, slapped a double to left field bringing in both Magliocca and Armsey, tallying the two-run RBI.

The third inning swinging fest did not end there for the Ice Haulers. Nathan Archer, Sophomore at Bowling Green State University, was walked to first. Archer stole second during Stolarski’s at bat. Ty Stolarski, Sophomore at the University of Akron, hit a single into right field which batted in Nathan Archer. Garret Pike and Brady Renfro also batted in runners from an error on the pitcher and a sacrifice fly. Pike and Renfro tallied RBI’s to round out the inning.

The fifth, sixth, and seventh innings were quiet for both sides. Gage Gillott, Jake Armsey, and Alec Mendoza were sound defensively, keeping to only four batters throughout these innings.

Gage Gillott, Sophomore at the University of South Carolina Upstate, picked up the win on the mound for the Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers. Gillott finished with seven strikeouts in his seven innings pitched.

Ty Munroe, Sophomore at Terra State Community College, came in to pitch relief in the eighth and ninth innings. Munrow tallied no hits, no errors, one walk, and two strikeouts in his two innings pitched.

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers will be back in action tomorrow facing off in Game Two of the series with the Muskegon Clippers. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
