The Ice Haulers looked to bounce back after a tough five-inning loss to the Royal Oak Leprechauns. Gino Sabatine (Senior, Marietta College) took the mound for Sandusky Bay, as they hoped to get their fifth straight win over the Locos.

Once again, Sandusky trailed to start the game. Down 1-0, in the bottom of the fourth inning, the dangerous hitter, Scott Mackiewicz (Freshman, University of Toledo) tied the game with an RBI single, scoring Bryce Richey (Junior, Tiffin University). Later in the inning, the first baseman, Nolan O’Connell (Sophomore, University of Findlay) gave the Ice Haulers a 3-1 lead, from a two-run blast to left center.

In the bottom of the fifth, Scott Mackiewicz would drive in another run, giving the Ice Haulers a 4-1 lead.

The Ice Haulers went yard again in the eighth inning, as the catcher, Tyler Byrd (Freshman, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi) hit a three-run blast, giving Sandusky Bay a 7-1 lead.

The Locos would battle back, scoring five runs in the ninth inning. However, Sandusky Bay would call Grayson Thurman (Senior, Lynchburg College) to save the game.

Gino Sabatine would allow one run (unearned), striking out ten Lima Locos. “I felt locked in today with my fastball and changeups.  We did not feel any pressure coming into today, after last night,” Sabaitine said.

The Ice Haulers would win 7-6 over the Locos. Sandusky has now won 22 out of 29 games this season. They will be on the road tomorrow to Celina, to take on the Grand Lake Mariners. The contest between the two teams will begin at 7:00pm.
