GAME 3 - Vecchiolla Records 4 Strikeouts in 5 Innings, and Jackson Green Extends Hitting Streak in Loss vs. Jet Box Baseball Club
After an 0-2 start, the Ice Haulers looked for their first win today in Sandusky. Andino Vecchiolla took the mound today for his Ice Hauler debut. The 6-1 freshman pitcher out of Seton Hill recorded four strikeouts out of five innings of work. Vecchiolla faced 18 batters, and only allowed three hits and two walks (1 BB and 1 HBP).
Along with an impressive performance by Vecchiolla, Jackson Green (Freshman, East Tennessee State University) has now extended his hitting streak for the first three games this season. Green hopes to continue to his streak as the season rolls around. He had two of the eight hits for the Ice Haulers, along with Drew Holderbach (Sophomore, Marietta College) who also had two of the eight hits. Scott Mackiewicz (Freshman, University of Toledo) would tally the only RBI for the Ice Haulers in the first inning.
Unfortunately the Ice Haulers took a 7-1 loss to the Jet Box Baseball Club. The team will be well rested and ready for a double header on Tuesday (June 8), as they take on the Muskegon Clippers, at Sports Force Parks (located Sandusky, Ohio).
