The Ice Haulers were looking for their second straight win, after run-ruling the Galion Graders. Luke Lushutka (Freshman, St. Bonaventure University) took the mound for Sandusky.
The Ice Haulers drew first blood in the first inning, after a double hit to centerfield by Scott Mackiewicz (Freshman, University of Toledo). However, the run would be caused by an error thrown by the Loco centerfielder, Darrel Buggs. This would allow Jordan Andrade (Freshman, University of Nevada Las Vegas) to score, and Mackiewicz to advance to third. This gave the Ice Haulers a 1-0 lead.
In the third inning, Three Hillier (Freshman, Liberty University) would extend the lead with an RBI single, scoring Scott Mackiewicz. Afterwards, the Locos would drop a popup, causing another run to score. Sandusky Bay then led 3-0.
The Locos would strike back with a two run-blast, and a solo shot to tie the game. Both home runs were hit off of Lushutka.
Luke Lushutka would go six innings, allowing three earned runs and five hits.
The Locos would score two runs from a clutch 2-RBI single in the eighth inning. That would be enough to defeat the Ice Haulers, with a score of 5-3.
The Ice Haulers will travel to Muskegon tomorrow, to take on the Clippers in a double header. The first game will begin at 3:00pm.
