The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers took down the Muskegon Clippers with a final score of 5-2. The Ice Haulers own, Nathan Archer, found the sweet spot in his barrel tonight going five for three at the plate and tallying his sixth double of the season along with his ninth RBI.
.
Gage Gillott earned the start on the mound for the Ice Haulers to throw a complete nine inning game. Gillott tallied only eight hits which allowed two runs due to his field putting in the work behind him. He also threw five strikeouts in his nine innings pitched.
.
Michael Pollard got things started for Sandusky Bay in the fourth inning with a single to center field which advanced Mason Montgomery to second and Brady Renfro from third to home. The Clippers were able to tie up the scoreline in the bottom of the fourth due to L. Todd’s double advancing home J. Anderson for the tying run. The Clippers then took the lead in the fifth inning with a homerun from S. Nelson, but could not hold on for the win.
.
The Ice Haulers hit their stride in the ninth inning recording four hits and three runs to secure the win over the Muskegon Clippers. Nathan Archer doubled to left field, causing Michael Pollard to advance home with the tying run. Jacob Armsey’s at-bat advanced Archer to second and himself to first to put them in scoring positions. Jace Rinehart’s double advanced Archer home and Armsey to third who was later advanced home from a Josh Kross sacrifice fly.
.
The Clippers took to their bench for relief consisting of P. Miller who threw for five innings, I. Toole throwing for three innings, and C. Vallie and L. Brewer who threw for 0.1 and 0.2 innings. The four pitchers were no match for the Ice haulers.
.
The Ice Haulers will be back in action tomorrow night for game two of the series with the Muskegon Clippers. Sandusky Bay leads the series thus far 1-0 and now sits at thirteen wins and nine losses. First pitch for tomorrow is set at 7: 05 PM at Marsh Field in Muskegon, Michigan.
