The Ice Haulers looked to close the regular season with a win over the Galion Graders. Mitchell Spencer (Sophomore, University of South Carolina Upstate) took the mound to start the game for Sandusky Bay, as Coach Clay planned on having a different pitcher for every inning played.

The Ice Haulers drew first blood, after an RBI fielder’s choice hit by Scott Mackiewicz (University of Toledo). His RBI drew Dominic Magliocca (Freshman, Miami University) to score. The next batter, Drew Holderbach hit an RBI single to left field to score Zachary Campbell (Senior, Tiffin University). The Ice Haulers led 2-0 going into the bottom of the second.

In the bottom of the second, the Graders hit a two-run bomb off Nick Saranczak (Senior, West Virginia State University) to tie the game.

The Ice Haulers would get those two runs back in the top of the fourth. Three Hillier (Freshman, Liberty University) scored on a wild pitch, then Bryce Richey (Junior, Tiffin University) hit an RBI double to score Dominic Magliocca.

Leading 4-2, the Ice Haulers would give up a run, after an error in the infield. This run brought the Ice Hauler’s lead to just a single run.

The Ice Haulers would once again take a two-run lead, as Scott Mackiewicz hit a sacrifice fly to score Zachary Campbell. Mackiewicz would finish the regular season with 51 RBIs.

The Galion Graders would stun Gino Sabatine (Senior, Marietta College) in the seventh inning, as the Graders would score five runs off him, to make it an 8-5 lead for the Graders.

The Ice Haulers would close the regular season with a loss to the Graders. However, the Ice Haulers are still focused, and ready for the playoffs. “We are not too worried about this loss. We still have the momentum after clinching the division, and we are ready to play Lima,” Ray Neill (Ice Haulers’ General Manager) said.

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers will host the first game of the series against the Lima Locos, on Monday at 7:00pm.
