Sandusky Bay Drops Game Two of the Series

The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers lost game two of their three game series with the Royal Oak Leprechauns in a 10-inning walk-off fashion, 2-3. The Ice Haulers trailed in the second inning 2-0, until they put two runs on the board in the fourth inning. This loss now sits Sandusky Bay at fourteen wins, twelve losses, and third place overall in the North Division.

E. Hopkins and D. Henig advanced home for the Leprechauns in the second inning due to a R. Trahey putout and an error by the Ice Hauler second baseman. Royal Oak recorded one hit, two runs, and an unearned base due to an error in the field.

With a close game, the Ice Haulers rallied to tie things up in the fourth inning. Jacob Armsey advanced with a line drive single to left field and Garett Pike advanced on base to a line drive single to right field. With two runners on base, Josh Kross came up to bat and was hit by a pitch advancing all runners and loading the bases. Brady Renfro hit a single to center field to advance home both Jacob Armsey and Garett Pike, giving Renfro a two-run RBI. Renfro was later caught stealing for out number three of the inning.

Extra innings at play, the Ice Haulers and Leprechauns went into 10 innings to decide a winner. G. Ganun hit a ground-rule double to center field to put himself into scoring position for the Leprechauns. Z. Horky then hit a single to center field which advanced G. Ganun home for the win.

Cam Darrington, right-handed pitcher from Owens Community College, earned the start on the mound for the Ice Haulers, pitching four innings. Darrington recorded five strikeouts, two runs, and two hits in his tenure on the mound. Jacob Boyd, left-handed pitcher from Lourdes University, pitched for six innings in relief. Boyd tallied four strikeouts, one run, and three hits in his time on the mound.

Sandusky Bay will be back in action tonight to conclude their three game series with the Royal Oak Leprechauns. With the series split one win to each side, the Ice Haulers have some work to do. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM and will take place at the Sandusky Sports Force Park on field 3.
