Last night, the Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers fell just short in a slugging contest against the Galion Graders during the 2021 season opener. However, Ice Hauler second baseman, Scott Mackiewicz (Freshman, University of Toledo) went 4-5 with 3 RBIs, including a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. Mackiewicz had four of the nine hits for the Ice Haulers. Mackiewicz was just a triple away hitting for the cycle. The Rocket looks forward to continuing putting up impressive numbers this Summer, along with the rest of the team.
Along with Mackiewicz's impressive performance, the Ice Hauler left fielder, Jackson Green (Freshman, East Tennessee State University) hit a solo shot in the third inning - the first in the history of our franchise). Green and the Ice Hauler’s first baseman, Drew Holderbach (Sophomore, Marietta College) also had a multi-hitting game, with an RBI each. After several ties and lead changes, the Ice Haulers would fall 10-9 against the Galion Graders. The Ice Haulers look to make up the season opener loss, as they take on the Lima Locos today at 7:00pm for their home opener on Saturday, June 5. Their next five games will be played in Sandusky, Ohio at Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center. |
